UV RADIATION

AND THE SKIN.

Most UVC is absorbed by the ozone layer and does not reach the earth, however UVA and UVB, penetrate the atmosphere and play an important role in conditions such as premature skin aging, eye damage (including cataracts), and skin cancers.

HOW UV WORKS

The cycle

of water.

The hydrologic cycle begins with the evaporation of water from the surface of the ocean. As moist air is lifted, it cools and water vapor condenses to form clouds. Moisture is transported around the globe until it returns to the surface as precipitation, making its way slowly into our lives. Meaning that everything we send out to the ocean, comes back to us in one way or another.

percentage of UV protection based on SPF values.

The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends a water-resistant, broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher for any extended outdoor activity. Regardless of the SPF, though, it’s important to apply one ounce (two tablespoons) 30 minutes before going outside and reapply it every two hours or immediately after swimming or sweating in order to have better protection.
